Yet another case of attempted dog killing has happened on our small island. At Sara we cannot bear more pain in our hearts; to have lived so many cases of such serious mistreatment and to live them so often is horrible to say the least.
Just a few hours ago we received a call from Haria's local police soliciting our help to save the poor animal. Previously the police had received a call from a couple who found the dog.

Immediately we left everything we were doing, we warned our vet, and we went to the shelter—given that today is Sunday, our shelter is closed, but of course we open our doors for such emergencies.

According to the police report, the couple was Hiking at the Volcán de la Corona near Ye (Municipality of Haría) when they heard a dog's horrifying howls of pain. They immediately decided to track down the source of the desperate howls and, in the distance, soon saw how two men split a wooden rod on a dog's head!!

The horror of witnessing this must break ones heart into a thousand pieces; we can't even imagine the pain this couple felt while witnessing such an atrocity.
Immediately the couple started to run towards them to try to save the dog. They could see how, after breaking the wooden rod on the dog's head, the men started hiting the dog with rocks in an attempt to kill him as soon as possible.

The couple started to shout desperately while running towards them, hoping they would stop the heinous act. The two authors of the abuse, seeing that the couple approached them, started to run away!

The perpetrators fled in a white van akin to a Renault express. The couple could see it was an old model with black tinted rear windows. The van went towards Maguez via road LZ 210.

From our Association we ask you to PLEASE HELP US locate the authors of such abuse and to locate the van they fled in. Someone has to know who these people are or recognize this poor dog. Together we must try to STOP THEM so they don't try to kill any more animals. Please help us find them! From Sara we will file a complaint to make sure there is an investigation, but we need all possible assistance to trace the perpetrators. Please do not let it go unpunished.

Here is how the puppy was found:

An innocent victim, a victim of human cruelty, abandoned to die. His eyes, his expression says it all: a mixture of terror and great sadness, and a surrender to death to escape the wolrd that has been so cruel to him. It wrenches our hearts.

He is now in our hospital, safe from those cruel humans who only wanted to kill him!! Unfortunately his condition is very serious; we fear that he will most likely not survive.

We have baptized him KING, because he is not just a piece of trash or punching bag many have treated him as during his short life—King is no more than eighteen months old. King is for us a real REY, a king who we must help and care for. He has to feel like a real king, like a true warrior and fighter. He will need all the help and encouragement possible to LIVE.

After this initial assessment, we can say that King has suffered strong blows to the head, possibly has a broken skull, and has pulmonary edema.

His breathing is very fast and we can hear fluid in his lungs. He will not stop bleeding from his nose and mouth.

At Sara we have no words. We are fed up with so much animal abuse! Our heart has no space for more scars. Please help us locate the culprits; we do not want them to get hold of another dog just for this to happen again. This sort of abuse is repeated again and again and again. Don't be silent if you know something, your silence will make you an accomplice!

King needs all our help. Send some positive energy, a thought ...all help will help King keep fighting to survive.

If you would like to help us continue helping so many innocent victims,
you can make a donation into our account at La Caixa: ES53 2100 1510 33 0200154756 or become a member to help fight our cause. Thank you!
